Ready to Volunteer?
Everything from simple tasks to policy writing is volunteer driven and we would be glad to have your help. We have a few different tasks that could always use additional hands. We need:
Trusted community members who know a lot about Carbondale and have small pieces of time throughout their day to virtually communicate to clients and case managers. Case Team Volunteers communicate directly with clients to form a plan of action for relocation or to provide information or social support. These volunteers should be willing to attend a monthly or bimonthly meeting to discuss and report back on cases.
People who can spare a day or two to prepare and execute on fundraisers by cooking for a community dinner, taking tickets, or holding the donation jar at a show.
Trusted community members with a car or truck willing to travel the distance to help our clients make the move.
People with formally or informally gained specialized knowledge about housing, job hunting, state programs, law, gender affirming care, or any other topic relevant to our mission. We would be gracious for a one hour consultation or training, or even ongoing contact for the unique questions our clients bring us.

Security and Privacy are a top priority at Rainbow Refuge
We screen volunteers. It is necessary to ensure the safety of our clients and our volunteers. Unfortunately this requires that new volunteers not already known to our volunteers jump through some hoops. If you already know one of our volunteers we recommend seeking an invitation from them directly.
