How Do We Do It?
We are volunteers. Our team is made up of regular, everyday, community members. Our team meets twice a month and our board meets every other month. We rely on the broad base of information and skills our volunteers bring to the table. Over our two years of experimenting and refining our operation, we have already helped many and plan to help many more
When a client reaches out, we gather information about what they need and match them with volunteers who can answer questions, make relocation plans, and take necessary steps to help with the move.
Our History
Our efforts first began with a meeting of a community assembly (Carbondale Assembly for Radical Equity) to discuss problems facing our region. One of the top problems discussed was the emerging Anti-Trans legislation coming from Florida, Texas, and Tennessee.
We knew that we wanted to help people leaving states with hostile policies. So over two years we crowdsourced funds, found more volunteers, and made ourselves available to people seeking to relocate.
Our Future
We are in the process of incorporating and registering as a Charitable Not for Profit to better meet the needs of our clients and ensure the longevity of our organization. We expect and are preparing for increased numbers of clients. We also expect increasingly complex cases if (or when) Anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation and violence increase.
Our team will expand to meet the needs of our clients. We will never abandon good people to bad times.
